Get In the Game

Break the Ice With These Bridal Shower Games:
Your shower is a time for your guests to celebrate and catch up on what has been happening in each others' lives. Opening the gifts is the main event at any shower, but fun games can liven up the atmosphere and help your guests get to know each other. Here are some game ideas that will get everyone talking and create memories you and your friends will be laughing about for years to come.

Clothespin Game:
This is a great way to break the ice. When each guest arrives, they will receive a clothespin, which can be decorated based on the theme of the shower. Throughout the party, there will be a forbidden word, such as "groom," "bride" or the groom's name. If someone slips up and says the forbidden word, the person who catches them gets to take their clothespin. At the end of the party, the guest with the most clothespins wins a small prize. Toilet Paper Bride:
Guests should be divided into small groups of three or four. Each group should be given several rolls of toilet paper and some tape. One person from the group should be chosen as the "bride." Each group has a certain amount of time, say three or four minutes, to create a wedding gown out of toilet paper on the "bride." When the time is up, the real bride will pick the most creative dress and that group will win small prizes. The Price is Right:
For this game, 10 common household items such as detergent, shampoo, flour, paper towels, etc., should be displayed. Each guest is given a list of the items and has to guess the total cost of buying all of the items. The person with the closest guess wins a prize. Herbs and Spices Game:
Test your guests sense of smell with this game. Ten disposable cups should each be filled with a different herb and numbered. The top of the cups should be covered with aluminum foil, which can be secured with a rubber band. Small holes should be poked in the top. Each guest should receive a list of the numbers and guess what herb is in each cup. The person who makes the most correct guesses wins a prize. Recipe Keepsakes:
Have each guest bring a recipe for the bride. At the end of the shower, the host collects the recipes and presents them to the bride in a recipe box. The bride will have new recipe ideas and a way to remember each guest.
